Tamil thriller drama film Visaaranai, written and directed by Vetrimaaran, who also gave us Polladhavan, has become the first Tamil film to have its premiere in the Qrizzonti competition section of the upcoming 72nd Venice International Film Festival. The film has already received a rare honour even before its release, this surely is a big moment for Visaaranai’s team and also a great news for Tamil cinema.
The experimental Indian Tamil thriller film, which is yet to be released, is produced by Dhanush’s production venture, Wunderbar Films. Dhanush took to his official Twitter account to share the good news with his fans. He expressed his happiness by tweeting, “#Visaaranai 2 premier at d 72nd Venice international film festival n Orizzonti competitive category. Proud Wunderbar films.”
Visaaranai, also spelled as Visaranai, stars Attakathi Dinesh, Anandhi and Aadukalam Murugadoss in the leading roles. Film’s director was impressed by Anandhi’s performance in Poriyaalan and decided to bring the talented actress on board with film Visaaranai.
This is not the first time that Dhanush’s production venture has got international fame. His first film that received international recognition was critically acclaimed film Kaaka Mutta, which was released in 2014. Kaaka Muttai, which was produced by Dhanush and Vetrimaaran was screened in various international film festivals even before its Indian theatrical release.
Visaaranai has been shot in locations across Hyderabad. The shooting of Visaaranai’s first half finished in September, 2014. The director of the film, Vetrimaaran earlier revealed by announcing that this film would be an experimental film of total sixty minutes.
The 72nd Venice Film Festival will take place in September this year and will run from September 2 to September 12. National award winner director Vetrimaan has directed his third movie, Visaaranai (Visaranai) after a gap of four years.
